Per Band Configuration

The per-band configuration dialog requires KAT500 firmware versions 00.87 or later.

Most KAT500 configuration values may be set individually per band. The dialog also provides an easy way to configure the same value for all bands.

Changes are not applied until one of the Apply or Save buttons are pressed. Pending changes from all tabs are Saved at once when Save or Apply is selected. Save closes the dialog; Apply leaves the dialog open.

Antennas
Per band antennas image

This page is used to configure the enabled and preferred antenna connectors.

Enabled antennas are available for use on a given band. Disabled antennas are skipped by successive presses of the KAT500 ANT button.

In the image above, with "All" bands selected, ANT1 is anabled on all bands, ANT2 is enabled on some bands and disabled on others and ANT3 is disabled on all bands.

The Preferred antenna is automatically selected when the KAT500 detects a band change.

VSWR Thresholds
Per band thresholds image

These thresholds may be set individually by band, or set to the same value for all bands.

Amplifier Key Interrupt

This setting may be used to interrupt the amplifier key line (the PTT line from transceiver through the KAT500 to the amplifier) whenever the VSWR exceeds this threshold value. Set this threshold to a high value if you do not wish the KAT500 to interrupt the amplifier key line when it detects high SWR. The factory value for this threshold is 2.00 (an SWR of 2:1).

Autotune

This VSWR threshold is used to determine if the KAT500 should attempt to retune when in Automatic Mode. KAT500 firmware may establish a lower limit for this threshold. The factory value for this threshold is 1.80 (an SWR of 1.8 to 1).

Bypass

The KAT500 tuning algorithm first measures the VSWR of the antenna, with the KAT500 "bypassed". If the antenna SWR is "quite good", the quickest, quietest and lowest loss KAT500 setting is to bypass all the inductors and capacitors. This VSWR threshold is used to choose your notion of "quite good". The factory value for this threshold is 1.20 (an SWR of 1.2 to 1).

Memories
Per band erase memories image

Use this tab to erase memorized tuner settings for one or more antennas.

Erasure does not occur until one of the Apply or Save buttons are pressed. Pending changes from all tabs are Saved at once when Save or Apply is selected. Save closes the dialog; Apply leaves the dialog open.
