Your KAT500 must be connected to a personal computer serial port or USB port before firmware can be sent.
A KXUSB interface cable for USB plugs into a USB port on your personal computer. Insert the right-angled 3.5 mm plug into your KAT500 back panel PC Data connector.
Alternatively, you may also use a KXSER serial cable that has a 9-pin D shell RS-232 connector on one end and a 3.5mm TRS plug on the other, or you may create a suitable cable using a DB-9 female connector and a 3.5mm TRS plug. The connections are:
