This page is used to obtain firmware files from Elecraft, display the firmware version currently installed in your W2, and to send firmware to your W2.
Firmware files are copied from an Elecraft file server to a firmware folder on your computer before they are sent to your W2. This section helps you choose the folder on your Computer to store firmware files.
The W2 Utility creates a Library:Application Data:Elecraft:W2 Firmware folder for this purpose. You may use the Browse button to start a Browse for Folder dialog.
Click to navigate to the default folder for W2 Firmware, which is under the current user's Application Data folder.
Click to start a Browse for Folder dialog. Navigate to the folder of your choice and then click "OK".
Elecraft makes new W2 firmware available by placing files on an Elecraft-provided file server. The W2 Utility uses the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to copy new firmware files from Elecraft to the folder you have selected on your computer.
Your computer must be connected to the internet to use this W2 Utility function.
When this check box is selected, the Check Version Now button copies the most recent firmware file from the Elecraft file server to your firmware folder.
Click to compare the firmware version installed in your W2 with the most recent firmware available in your folder. If the Copy new files from Elecraft server into local folder check box is selected, the copy is performed before comparing versions.
This section shows the firmware version currently installed in your W2 and the newest version available in your computer's firmware folder.
Indicates the firmware version installed in the W2.
Indicates the most recent (highest version number) firmware file in the firmware folder.
Sends the firmware file to the W2.
The W2 must be prepared to receive firmware. First, turn the W2 off. Then press the W2's On/Off and Sensor buttons together at the same time and release both buttons. The leftmost green LED blinks to indicate that the W2's bootstrap loader is ready to receive firmware. Then click the W2 Utility "Send Firmware to W2" button. The leftmost yellow LED blinks as firmware blocks are received.
