Step 1: Be sure you can get alerts and warnings from Santa Clara County officials
- Sign up for AlertSCC or verify that your existing information the the system is correct.
- The county will use this information to contact you about emergency conditions, such as evacuation warnings and orders. This is what is commonly refered to as "reverse 911".
Step 2: Be sure you can get alerts from us (ARES/RACES)
- Log into our Activities Database
- Go to "My Contact Info" and enter your contact info into the AlertSCC section.
- Important: Be sure to also complete Step 1 above. Entering information in our database does NOT enter you into the county's database. Our database is only used by us (ARES/RACES) when we need to reach out to amateur radio operators to request communications support.
Step 3: Review your plan
- Review your emergency plan with your family. Make sure everyone knows where to meet, what to do.
- Make sure you're ready to leave if you need to evacuate (food, clothing, medicine, fuel for you vehicle, radios, etc.).
