News
Due to high winds and dry conditions, PG&E has announced a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for parts of Santa Clara County starting late Tuesday evening 11/5 until mid-day Friday 11/08. This primarily affects the eastern foothills and the Santa Cruz Mountains in the county. W2XSC, W4XSC, and K6SNY (Resource Net) are in the affected area but have backup power for multiple days so no issues are expected.
UPDATE: 11/08 1205
- PG&E has restored power to the W2XSC site.
- This ends this PSPS event.
UPDATE: 11/07 2240
- PG&E has extended the restoration of power until 12:00 on Friday 11/08.
- The rental generator has enough fuel to last thru Monday mid-day if needed.
- Both the W2XSC BBS and the K6SNY Resource Net Repeater are functional, but until PG&E has restored power we suggest using your backup BBS.
UPDATE 11/6 1345
- A temporary generator has arrived at the W2XSC site, the BBS and K6SNY are once again operational.
- PG&E has extend the PSPS until 1400 Thursday.
UPDATE 11/6 0915
- The power at W2XSC went down at 23:30 Tuesday evening 11/5. The generator failed to function. The site manger attempted to restart the generator about 3:30 am with no luck. Either repairs to the generator or a rental generator are in the works.
- The K6SNY Resource Net repeater is also down for the same reason as noted above.
- W4XSC lost power around 00:30 am on 11/6 and the generator is running.
- While we expect that W2 will have power restored before the end of the Weekly Packet Practice next week, the Weekly Packet Practice will accept messages sent to either W2XSC or W4XSC as valid for this week.
Once weather has improved, PG&E will begin inspecting power lines and equipment for possible damage. Power will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so which is expected mid-day Thursday.
