Event Planning - Table Top

Course Description and Materials

 

Overview: This class will address the skills and planning activities necessary to create the plans for drills, public service events, and activations.  The class will include interactive table-top exercises.
Intended Audience: This class is intended for those who will be planning drills and events, anyone who wants to learn more about event planning for medium or large scale events, and those who want to work towards earning their Type 1 Credential.
Prerequisites: Must have completed any of the Type 2 classes in any of the following areas; Field Ops, Net Control, or Packet.  This class is strongly suggested for ECs and AECs.
Length: 3 hours
Students should bring:
  • Completed homework assignment
  • Copy of course presentation and exercise materials (see below)
  • Pen/pencil and pad of paper
Learning Objectives:

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the different types of events
  • Create measurable exercise objectives
  • Describe the planning process and what is different based on the event type
  • Describe how to deal with problems that might be encountered during the planning process
  • Properly complete the ICS 202 Incident Objectives form
  • Explain how to use checklists as a planning aid
  • Create an event plan for a functional area of a drill or public service event
  • Create an After Action Report (AAR)
